Important Information

The Department for Education provides intensive English language support for students newly arrived in Australia through New Arrivals Programs (NAP). The Adelaide Secondary School of English (ASSoE) is the only Adelaide New Arrivals Program for students aged eleven (11) to seventeen (17).

The Adelaide Secondary School of English:

• Prepares students for success in the Australian curriculum and mainstream schooling
• Develops students’ confidence to live in the Australian community.

This is achieved through:

• Intensive English language support with specialist teachers of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD)
• Learning English through curriculum areas
• A variety of activities within the school and the community, including excursions and social events
• Small classes.

The school provides:

• Classes at different levels of English proficiency
• Intensive English across areas of study
• Opportunities for community participation
• A safe, inclusive and supportive environment
• A transition program to high school.

To be eligible for enrolment in a NAP, students need to be enrolled within 12 months of arrival in Australia.

Some categories of temporary visa holders are not eligible for enrolment in a NAP, or may be required to pay a fee. Students with 500 or 600 subclasses should contact International Education Services prior to making an enrolment appointment.

The school provides enrolment interviews on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between 9am and 11am. The enrolment process takes approximately 90 minutes.
